Mark Chandler - October 28th 2024

Community Advisor Applications

We are looking for volunteers to help out in the community in variety of ways:

  • Storyline Team: Want to shape the next big adventure for our community? Members of this group will help create and administer our next storyline. We need passionate people to collaborate on the creation of the storyline, help with filling in lore, create NPCs and monsters, update the wiki/CMS, communicate to the community via Discord and more. If any of that sounds like something you would like to help with you can apply here.
  • Game Rules Committee: If you would like to be a part of the group that oversees the way we interpret and enforce game rules we are now accepting applications. This group will be instrumental in deciding how we implement the new version of D&D and what changes we make to the PW system in general. To apply for this committee you should have a strong grasp of the 5e rules overall, a solid understanding of the PW system, and be an active member of the community. Applications can be submitted here.
  • Social Media Committee: If you would like to help spread the word to the masses this group is for you. We need people to help create, format and schedule content for our social media accounts. We could really use the help in this one so if you have any experience please apply here.

We will be accepting applications for all three of these groups until 9:00am on Monday Nov 4th.

Creating 5.0 Characters in DNDBeyond

As many of you are aware there is a shiny new version of D&D out in the wild known as D&D 5.5 or D&D 2024. Our current games do NOT support the new system, but we are working behind the scenes to handle this. In the meantime, if you are creating a character please use only 5.0 (2014) options. I know this is all a bit confusing so here is a step by step guide to making compliant characters using dndbeyond.

Step 1 - Creation Mode

First off, go to dndbeyond and create a character. Select the standard option. The premade options all use 5.5 rules so do not start with one of those, just select standard.

Step 2 - Select Sources

On the next screen turn off unwanted sources. Match the picture to the left to narrow things down as much as possible.

Step 2b - Make Your Character Public (optional)

At the bottom of your character's home page you can change your character privacy setting. We reccomend you set this to "Public". This allows you to share your character link on our site.

Step 3A - Select Class

On the class select page collapse the block labelled as core rules and select a class from the Legacy section.

Step 3B - Select Spells

When picking spells some spells will have a "legacy" tag beside them. Always pick the legacy version if available. If you look at the spell description and it says 2024 anywhere in the source field it is not allowed.

Step 4 - Select Background

Click on the background drop drown and scroll down to where it says "Legacy (includes 2014 rules)" and pick one of those.

Step 5 - Select Species

On the species select page collapse the block labelled as core rules and select a species from the Legacy section.

After that you can assign your ability scores and equipment etc as normal. Do keep in mind that:

  • If you go back to adjust your class or species it will show you the new options again, be careful not to pick them! Collapse the block labelled core and pick from the remaining options.
  • A few of the legacy options for spells, species etc are not allowed in our games. You can easily find out what is and is not allowed here.
  • For simplicity sake the above steps will remove some options that we do allow (Artificer, some species etc). If you want to use these, on step two enable the "expanded rules" switch.
