Storyline Beta
Starting in September we will be introducing a new optional feature called “Storylines” to our Persistent World games. This is a feature designed to provide a more campaign like experience for both GMs and players. Storylines are a framework or meta-story that GMs can build their games into. Each storyline will be divided into acts, and each act will be bookended with events common to all tables. So if you play at one table in act one, and a completely different table in act two, the adventures will be linked. The GM still has a ton of latitude in building their adventure. They can directly engage with the events of the storyline or just use them for context. Further, if a GM does not want to participate in the storyline they do not have to, they can continue to run whatever the heck they want.
After the last act is completed we will have a Finale event which will likely be a big Epic game that will both end the current story and potentially influence future ones.
If you are a GM you might be wondering how much extra work is involved in all this and the answer is very little. GMs who elect to participate in the beta will be given a one-sheet that details all the story points, key events, NPCs, lore etc needed to create adventures for the story. You will also be provided with a deeper look at all those things that you can reference if you want.
If you are a GM and would like to participate in the storyline beta please sign up for more details here.
D&D 5.5
We will begin running play-test events for the next edition of D&D in September. These will NOT be PW games for now, they will all be Sidequest games and may have special requirements so be sure to read the event descriptions thoroughly!
If you are a GM that would like to try running some 5.5 games you can sign up via our special events calendar here. Please note that for the moment I am only accepting submissions to run:
- GM workshops (we could use some more GMs in the fold!)
- High level 5.0 PW games
- 5.5 Sidequest games
