Server Woes
So after what can be charitably described as “an epically disastrous week” we are now live on our new host. A huge thanks to all of you for your patience, understanding and compassion. Also thanks to all who gave me suggestions on alternate hosts. We ended up going with Knownhost. So far the difference in quality of support is night and day and the site seems to be much more responsive in general. I am very happy with the move thus far.
As of now everything on the site should be working as expected. If you come across any bugs please let me know asap. If you are not getting emails for surveys etc, also please let me know. There may be some lingering config related issues, but so far so good!
Summer Social
Next Friday is our Summer Social! Aside from the usual shenanigans we will be also be doing the following:
- Town Hall: I will be making a short presentation discussing some recent events and talking about some exciting new things that will be happening in September. There will be a general Q&A as well. This will all be wrapped up by 8:00 at the absolute latest so if you don't care about all that, come at 8:00!
- D&D Olympics: We will be forming up into teams of up to five players and competing in a series of very silly mini-games, with prizes for the winners!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank here in Toronto, tickets are non-refundable. Lastly, if you are buying a ticket for a guest please let me know what their name is here so I can make sure they get a button.
Homebrew Research Interviews
Erik Steiner is a Ph.D. student researching TTRPGs and specifically how/why people make custom content for their games. They would love to interview anyone with experience creating and/or publishing homebrew rules, stories, characters, mechanics etc. Send them an email (eksr@schulich.yorku.ca) if you would be willing to chat and they will send over some more details!
Roll for Compassion: A D&D Fundraiser
Rainbow Railroad is raising money to help support a trans woman escaping persecution in Uganda in her first year living in Toronto. For a minimum donation of $30, join the Rainbow Railroad team at @stormcrowmanor on August 18th or September 15th to enjoy some specialty cocktails and participate as a player in one of 6 one-shot Dungeons and Dragons adventures!
Thanks all, more to come soon!
