The story of Vermeillon is an old one — a platinum boomtown choked out by disaster and whispered nightmares. Twenty years ago, an explosion collapsed the mine and buried dozens alive. Some were saved, but within weeks survivors began vanishing. Families fled, trade routes shifted, and Vermeillon became a ghost story.
Lately, it seems like whatever infected Vermeillon has been growing past its borders. Merchants who take the mountain roads near the abandoned village speak of shadows dogging their steps, voices calling from the trees, dreams that cling long after waking — and of fellow travelers who simply disappear.
Mayor Lukas Grosvenor of Maerin knows what this means. He is old enough to remember the fall of Vermeillon, and he fears the same dread that hollowed it out is creeping down the mountain toward his own people. He’s desperate enough to hire you to investigate — and to send you to those who still remember what happened there.
Your task is simple on the surface: travel to Vermeillon, discover what happened, and stop it from spreading.
But what lingers in those mines is no curse, no simple haunting. Fear itself has taken root, given form, and it’s hungry.
Will you survive Vermeillon’s darkness… or be consumed by it?

Dungeons & Dragons 5.5 Edition
https://dnd.wizards.com/start-playing-dnd
Description:
The first Dungeons & Dragons game was played back when Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson chose to personalize the massive battles of their fantasy wargames with the exploits of individual heroes. This inspiration became the first fantasy roleplaying game, in which players are characters in an ongoing fantasy story. This new kind of game has become immensely popular over the years, and D&D has grown to include many new ways to vividly experience worlds of heroic fantasy. The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends may tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. You can also explore the many worlds of D&D through any of the hundreds of novels written by today's hottest fantasy authors, as well as engaging board games and immersive video games. All of these stories are part of D&D.
