Heads up: this one isn’t a roleplaying game. Diplomacy is a classic strategy board game. You won’t have a character sheet, a Game Master or any dice. Each player leads one of the Great Powers of Europe on the eve of World War I, and the board is a map of the continent. Every turn, players negotiate in secret: they make alliances, trade promises and plan joint attacks. Then everyone writes down their orders, and all the orders are revealed and resolved at once. Nothing is left to luck. Whether your armies and fleets advance or collapse depends only on how well you plan, persuade and read the people at the table. Promises aren’t binding. The ally who helped you take Belgium last turn may be planning to stab you in the back this turn, and so may you. If you enjoy the talking, scheming and table politics of a good campaign, this is that experience at its purest. New players are welcome. The rules are simple, and we’ll walk you through them at the start. You don’t need any experience, just a willingness to make deals you may not keep.
