Your rain and sweat soaked garments hinder you, and your wearniness grows with each step. You're starting to wonder whether or not you would even muster the strength necessary to defend yourself against the ghosts and demons of this place. Even the muck and slime of this jungle seems to mock your earlier optimism. Your thoughts turn briefly to an earlier life, full of hope and promise, and you wonder if this may be the "final act" that your childhood friend warned you about. Their parting words to you as you left home to make a life of "adventuring."
Blocked by countless trees, the air is even more still and humid than in town, and you must constantly wipe your brow or be temporarily blinded by sweat. Everywhere you turn, you only just miss catching a glimpse of some dark shape before it disappears between thick trees or under the eternal sea of ferns. Your imagination is beginning to race.
The others have gone silent. You wonder about these relative strangers. What is haunting their thoughts? You've heard nothing but grunts and complaints from them since the latest short downpour. A rain too hot to satisfy, whose only purpose seems to make the ground even more slick and dangerous.
Movement above and to the right. Silhoutted against the hazy sun, some large, dark, thing is dropping from the lower canopy. You unclip the new sword in your scabbard, and in the corner of your eye you see its legs unfurl, using the tree to slow its descent just above your companion. Half a second later and his muted screams bounce off the wet jungle. A split second of silence before the chaos and pain.

Dungeons & Dragons 5.5 Edition
https://dnd.wizards.com/start-playing-dnd
Description:
The first Dungeons & Dragons game was played back when Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson chose to personalize the massive battles of their fantasy wargames with the exploits of individual heroes. This inspiration became the first fantasy roleplaying game, in which players are characters in an ongoing fantasy story. This new kind of game has become immensely popular over the years, and D&D has grown to include many new ways to vividly experience worlds of heroic fantasy. The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends may tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. You can also explore the many worlds of D&D through any of the hundreds of novels written by today's hottest fantasy authors, as well as engaging board games and immersive video games. All of these stories are part of D&D.
