It is the middle of summer and you find yourselves taking some downtime in Verdantshire, a peaceful region known for its bountiful harvests and welcoming people. Things had been quiet and unremarkable until the night before last. You awoke to a deafening roar and the sight of a ball of fire above, seeming to tear the very sky asunder. As quickly as it appeared, it was gone, crashing away to the west.
This morning in the tavern's food hall, a hawk sought you out bearing a message that read:
“Brother and Sisters of the Earth, the Archdruid's notified me of your proximity, I hope this message finds you swiftly. My mentor, Brother Kane, is in urgent need of aid. The falling star… we thought it was an omen of good from above. But now… I don’t know. I don’t know what to do. If you can spare the time, I desperately need your help to fix this. Our home is in the heart of Mistgnurl [Map with directions sketched out included]. Please hurry, as I fear her time is limited.
May the stars always light your passage,
Sister Ripley”

Dungeons & Dragons 5.5 Edition
https://dnd.wizards.com/start-playing-dnd
Description:
The first Dungeons & Dragons game was played back when Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson chose to personalize the massive battles of their fantasy wargames with the exploits of individual heroes. This inspiration became the first fantasy roleplaying game, in which players are characters in an ongoing fantasy story. This new kind of game has become immensely popular over the years, and D&D has grown to include many new ways to vividly experience worlds of heroic fantasy. The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends may tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. You can also explore the many worlds of D&D through any of the hundreds of novels written by today's hottest fantasy authors, as well as engaging board games and immersive video games. All of these stories are part of D&D.
