A Getaway Just For Nerds!

Located in North Kipawa, Quebec (approximately 5 hours from downtown Toronto) Moose Rock Lodge caters to tabletop gamers who want to have a quiet getaway in beautiful surroundings on Lake Temiskaming. On your weekend you will have the opportunity to make new friends while playing amazing games in our 3,600 square foot waterfront gaming lodge. All food and snacks are provided for the entire weekend, you won’t have to lift a finger, except to roll your dice!

Our lodge has three spacious guest bedrooms (plus one for your host!) each equipped with a luxury queen bed, daybed or large couch, chairs, desk and plenty of closet space. The main bathroom has a large soaker tub and separate shower. The large deck looking over the lake has a large harvest table for outdoor dining and watching the spectacular sunsets.

We are a dog friendly establishment, provided your furry one is not aggressive and gets along with strangers of both the human and canine variety. Our black lab Ruby will usually be on site and is easy going and friendly.

"Mark and Lisa thought of all the things we might want / need during our getaway. We felt very welcomed and taken care of. The D&D was awesome! There were boardgames galore, and the other guests were lovely! The food was incredible. The cabin gorgeous, nestled in the woods on a lake. Not sure you could ask for anything more. "

All The Games & More!

D&D and Other RPGs

Want to play some D&D? Our host will run a fifth edition mini-campaign each night of your stay. Whether you've been playing since the 70's or have literally never played before, we can create an amazing experience for you. On average you can expect 4 to 6 hours of D&D per full day you are staying with us, but the exact amount of play can be catered to your preferences.

If you want to play a different rpg, we can currently also run Alien, Bladerunner, Mothership 1e, Fallout 2d20 or Ten Candles (non-survival horror, everybody dies, every time).

If there is something else you want to play let us know and we will see if we can make it work!

Board Games

Our collection of over 100 boardgames includes modern classics from Azul to Zombie Dice. Some of our favourites include Beyond The Sun, Scythe, Wingspan, Lords of Waterdeep and Cthuhu Wars. You can check out our complete collection on boardgamegeek. Note that not all of these games are at the lodge at all times, so if there something you want to play for sure let us know so we can make sure it's waiting for you! If there are games you want to play that are not on our list, let us know and we will see if we can get them for your stay!

Cottage Classics

In addition to all of the above we have a few cottage classics on hand as well. Throw some darts (cricket anybody?), shoot some Crokinole discs, play a round of croquet, throw some bolas in ladderball or chuck some beanbags in a spirited game of cornhole.

"Mark and Lisa are excellent hosts. They are both very easy to get along with and made me feel welcome, comfortable and taken care of. There's a large variety of good board games. The cabin is right by the water, so getting some quality nature time in is easy with their kayaks. But the best part might be meals, the food was absolutely excellent. Thank you, Mark and Lisa!"

Your Own Private Chef

When you arrive your host will have already prepared a welcome snack for you and will make all your meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything is made more or less from scratch. While you're staying with us you will not have to chop, cook or clean anything whatsoever. Prior to your booking date we will work with you to create a menu for your group that accounts for any dietary restrictions, preferences or allergies. Some standard items would include:

Breakfast: In addition to our continental breakfast (bagels, fruit salad, yogurt, cereal etc) you'll be able to get eggs cooked how you like them along with bacon and sausage etc.

Lunch: Homemade soups, panini sandwiches, grilled cheese and salads will all be on offer every day.

Dinner: Different each night, some of our faves are planked salmon, tacos with all the fixings, spaghetti and meatballs and if everybody is feeling brave, the Burginator. We are also open to requests, so let us know what you like!

Snacks: Chips, veggies and hummous, nuts, nachos, hors d'oeuvres and more. Served whenever it looks like people might be snacky.

Sample Itinerary

FAQ

I would like to have a room all to myself, do you have a single occupancy rate?

Most of the time we do not, but we will from time to time offer a rate for single occupancy if we have a vacant room at the last minute.

Do I need to bring linens or pillows?

No, we will provide all of that. However, if you require a specialty or hypoallergenic pillow we suggest you bring one.

What do I need to bring with me?

Pretty much personal toiletries and a can-do attitude! We will have shampoo, soap, bodywash etc on hand for you if you aren't picky.

How close is the Lodge to civilization?

We are an easy ten minute drive to a town with a drug store, grocery store, liquor and cannabis stores and much more. If you forget something you probably won;t have an issue picking it up in town.

What level should our characters be?

Once all the rooms have been booked we will send a survey out amongst the guests to finalize the level range and all game particulars.

I have dietary needs that need to be addressed, can you accommodate them?

Probably, although we will need some particulars to be 100% sure. In the past we have handled vegetarian, vegan, strict gluten free (Celiac) and peanut free requests without issue.
